Many of us have gone on diets and exercise programs, taken off a great deal of weight only to be frustrated by that last few pounds.
It's frustrating, disheartening, and plain not fair!
If you are one of those that have dropped a good deal of weight then pat yourself on the back for having lost the weight you have so far, take a breath, and relax.
You need to reduce your stress and realize that you can, and will meet your goal. If you are just starting to fight the battle of the bulge, keep it up because many have gone before you, and you can join them.
Understand that your body has to readjust itself and every organ, even down to your skin. It's going to take some time for this to occur.
Stay on your current program, if you haven't already increase your fiber intake, and finally keep exercising. What you need now is to allow your metabolism to catch up, and then give it a boost.
Next, you need to increase the load you are putting on your body. You need to add another activity than what you've been doing. If you've been running or biking, start running or riding up as many hills as you can find.
Other ways to increase your output is to incline your treadmill, start playing tennis or some other sport, get into aerobics, martial arts, or anything else that your body isn't used to.
Finally, boost your metabolism. Eat foods that are high in protein and are reputed to naturally give you a boost like chili (beans), spices (hot), and green tea. There are several products that also may boost your metabolic rate such as Hoodia, and certain diet patches.
Do not yo-yo diet, as it is thought that yo-yo dieting actually reduces your metabolism. Also, how frequently you eat seems to play as much or more of role than what you eat.
You absolutely MUST eat breakfast; you also should be trying to eat more frequently, yet smaller meals.
This insures that there is always something in your stomach which helps to keep your metabolism constant. Try eating five or six small meals a day instead of two or three big ones.
In closing, try to keep your stress levels low, stress is never good for any weight loss program and can cause lots of other problems (that we won't go into here).
So quit stressing, pat yourself on the back for what you've already accomplished, keep on keepin' on, and you will make it!
