One thing that many people forget is that the human body is made up of almost 70% water. If you were to go out and test the average American for hydration, they would probably at least be mildly dehydrated if not more.
With the human body being made of 70% water, you can see where a lack of water could be a problem.
There are a couple of simple ways to see if you are dehydrated. Number one being, if you are urinating and it is a dark yellow color, you need to drink some water.
Another very effective way is to pinch a piece of skin on the backside of your hand and pull it up, hold it for a few seconds and release. If it snaps back in place quickly you are sufficiently hydrated. If it slowly sinks back into place you are most likely dehydrated.
This second method usually means that you are very dehydrated, and need to get some fluids.
With this last method you can see the importance of water for you skin.
If you are chronically dehydrated then your skin will not be elastic and wrinkles and other skin problems like dry skin, will become more acute.
The average person needs 6 to 8 glasses of water a day normally, and if working in hot weather they will require even more.
The rule of thumb for the average person though is 6 to 8 glasses per day; this should keep you body hydrated, and your skin healthy.
Sports drinks help also, but are not as good as water in my opinion because they require the body to work harder to process the additives in the drinks.
Fruit juices along with an adequate amount of water are best for skin care, because they work together to hydrate the skin, and the vitamins and other nutrients in the juices help rejuvenate the cells of the skin.
This is just one of the many ways to have youthful looking healthy skin.
